(All days repeat annually on today’s date unless otherwise noted; days may or may not be called “National”/”International”/”World” depending on source; sources listed often have additional info. BILL OF RIGHTS DAY
The Holiday Insights website says this:
“Today is Bill of Rights Day. The Bill of Rights contains key amendments to the U.S. Constitution that protect our individual rights. On March 4, 1789, the Constitution of the United States of America was ratified by the (former) 13 colonies, and went into effect. States and individuals were concerned that the Constitution did not properly cover and protect a number of rights of individuals. The Constitution was signed by the original 13 states with the requirement, or understanding, that a Bill of Rights would be created, amending the new U.S. Constitution. On September 25, 1789, the First Congress of the United States proposed to the state legislatures 12 amendments to the Constitution. 10 of these amendments were added to the Constitution on December 15, 1791.
The Bill of Rights includes these Amendments:
Amendment 1 – Freedom of speech, press and religion
Amendment 2 – The right to bear arms
Amendment 3 – Protection of homeowners from quartering troops, except during war
Amendment 4 – Rights and protections against unreasonable search and seizure
Amendment 5 – Rights of due process of law, protection against double jeopardy, self incrimination
Amendment 6 – Rights of a speedy trial by jury of peers and rights of accused
Amendment 7 – Rights to trial by jury in civil cases
Amendment 8 – Protection from cruel and unusual punishment, excessive bail
Amendment 9 – Protection of rights not specified in the Bill of Rights
Amendment 10 – States rights, power of the states
On Bill of Rights Day, we hope you celebrate your American Citizenship, and spend a few minutes reflecting upon the freedoms that you enjoy. These freedoms do not exist in many countries of the world.”
CAT HERDERS DAY
The Days Of The Year website says this:
“A day for those of us who feel like we’re tasked with the impossible, Cat Herders Day recognizes the frustration of trying to manage the unmanageable. Whether it’s work, home, school or other areas of life, if it feels like herding cats, today’s your day.”

BARBRA STREISAND TO GET SAG AWARD
Barbra Streisand – singer, actress and director, will receive the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award at the awards show in February. The award recognizes an actor who fosters the “finest ideals of the acting profession” and honors their career achievements and humanitarian accomplishments.
* A SAG award? She’s paid good money over the years to not show any sagging.
* She made 18 films, but they really ought to take points off for those two Focker movies.
* Doesn’t it sound like a “Lifetime Achievement Award” sends the message “Okay, you’ve been doing this a long time, and would you please stop now? Seriously – give it a rest!”
* Jackie Chan made 190 movies. Doesn’t that count for some kind of Lifetime Something?

POPULAR MALE COSMETIC PROCEDURES
Cosmetic surgeons are reporting which procedures have been the most popular among men this year. According to data compiled by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, male plastic surgery over the past three years has accounted for between 5% and 13% of all procedures performed. Here are the male plastic surgery trends of 2023:
– Jawline filler
– Breast reduction
– Girth enhancement. (No, we’re not talking about horse saddles.)
* Talk about junk science.
* If you’re on a budget, do the jawline filler to help get people’s eyes off your man boobs.
* Or to even skip the jawline filler, build up your muscles by chewing lots of gum all the time.
* Guess we’ve all pretty much given up having hair again, haven’t we guys?
* It can’t be much longer before face tattoo removal tops the list, can it?
TODAY, FRIDAY DECEMBER 15, IS THE MOST SEXLESS DAY OF THE YEAR
Today, Friday, December 15, is the most sexless day of the year. At least in England. Dr. Babak Ashrafi, an expert with Superdrug Online Doctor, drew this conclusion by analyzing requests for emergency contraception prescriptions and sexually transmitted infection tests. He found that the demand for UK sexual health services hits an annual low on Dec. 16. Therefore, fewer people are getting frisky on Dec. 15. Some of the doctor’s reasons:
– “Winter vagina.” A drop in temperature, a lack of moisture in the air is partly to blame, as well as indoor heating being used more often. The dryness results in uncomfortable sex.
– In addition, a decrease in hours of daylight during the winter can also upend circadian rhythms, the release of hormones, appetite, digestion and body temperature. Less sunlight exposure and spending more time indoors also results in vitamin deficiencies, which can make you feel more tired in winter months. As energy levels are much lower due to tiredness, this can affect your libido and sex drive.
* Well, once again, you can’t argue with the science.
* And if you can’t believe Dr. Babak Ashrafi, an expert with Superdrug Online Doctor, who can you believe?
* Superdrug Online Doctor. Sounds like an app for a Mexican drug cartel.
* So tomorrow, fewer people will be panicking over unwanted pregnancy or agonizing over catching a sex disease. Imagine missing all that fun!
* So, plan on finishing those Christmas cards tonight.
U.S. NEWS
OWL FOUND IN CHRISTMAS TREE
A Kentucky family found an owl in their Christmas tree. Michele White of Lexington said the tree had been inside their home for four days and was fully decorated. The owl somehow managed to remain undetected, despite the family having three dogs and the room getting heavy, constant use by the family. The owl was discovered by a carpet cleaner who was servicing the home while the family was away. He noticed the branches moving, looked closer and saw that it was an owl. The owl was released into the family’s backyard.
* This tops a partridge in a pear tree by a mile.
* They were wondering why Santa kept saying “who who who” instead of “ho ho ho.”
* Live Christmas trees are for the birds.
* Hitching a ride into a nice, warm house. Pretty wise.
* After they released the owl, they went back inside to discover all their Tootsie Pops were missing.
INTERNATIONAL NEWS
PERFORMER FALLS FROM CIRCUS WHEEL OF DEATH
A circus performer in the United Kingdom is in the hospital after falling during a performance on the “Giant Wheel of Death” on Wednesday night. The Wheel of Death is the contraption that looks like a double Ferris wheel – two hamster wheels on opposite ends of a spinning pendulum arm. The fall occurred during a show from the Hippodrome Circus in Norfolk, England. The performer, a man in his mid-20s was wearing a blindfold when he did a jump, missed the landing, slipped, and landed on the floor. He was performing the act with his brother, who accompanied him to the hospital. Some audience members said they thought it was part of the act. Said one woman, “They often miss on purpose to get the audience sort of riled up and on the edge of their seats, but then we realized something was wrong.” Jack Jay, the manager and circus ringmaster, said the incident appeared to be a “mistiming.”
* I would have said “blindfold,” but I wasn’t there.
* Yes, circus performers often fall from 30 feet to the floor, to make the trick look harder. The Wallendas used to do it all the time.
* Since nobody died on the Wheel of Death, did the people get their money back?
* Maybe it should just be Wheel of Serious Injury.
* “Wheel of Death”! Big deal. We used to have one of those things on our school playground. That was back when you could have swings, too. These kids today are too soft.
FRAUD ALLEGED IN CANADIAN BIRD CONTEST
People are claiming voter fraud in the Canadian bird contest held in the city of Regina. There are allegations that the projected winner — the black-capped chickadee — is winning with illegitimate votes. Voting took place online from Nov. 30 to last Sunday, Dec. 10. Results were visible to the public on the city’s website early Monday morning, but were soon taken down, so the public can no longer see how many votes each bird in the running garnered. It was announced that the chickadee had clearly won. But local resident Marc Spooner was watching the votes. He checked the vote count on the night of Dec. 5 when the red-breasted nuthatch was ahead, followed closely behind by the chickadee. But the next morning, lo and behold, the chickadee had added 2,371 votes overnight. Votes for the red-breasted nuthatch went up by only 106 during that period. Spooner alleges fraud.
* Oh my god, here we go again.
* He also claims the nuthatch had every right to keep those international newspapers at the bottom of its nest.
* The nuthatch has a very unique bird call. it goes, “Giuliani-ani-ani! Giuliani-ani-ani!”
* Chickadees seem nice and sweet, but when their goons show up at your door telling you who to vote for, you better listen!
* America has civil insurrections. Canada? Iffy bird contests.

“CHICKADEE”‘S DEATH TO BE A PART OF THE HONEY BOO BOO TV SHOW
Last Saturday, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, older sister of Honey Boo Boo and A&E Channel personality, passed away from stage 4 adrenal carcinoma at the age of 29. Her family held a private funeral for her on Wednesday. You should be shocked – but not at all surprised – that that her last days were filmed for the upcoming season of her family’s Mama June reality television series. “That’s what she wanted,” said Mama June Shannon. Previously, Mama June had said the funeral would be open to the public, but in the end they kept that part of her death private. But her final days, as well as events surrounding her funeral, will be a part of A&E’s TV show.
