STUDY: ICE CREAM AND POTATO CHIPS AS ADDICTIVE AS COCAINE AND HEROIN
Science says ice cream, sausage and potato chips are just as addictive as nicotine, cocaine or heroin (* But much harder to smoke, snort, or inject). A new analysis of 281 studies across 36 different countries has uncovered that a staggering 14% of adults are hooked on what is known as Ultra Processed Foods. The analysis was led by University of Michigan professor Ashley Gearhardt, who created the Yale Food Addiction Scale. He used that food addiction scale to measure substance addiction He found that both processed foods and drugs caused uncontrollable and excessive consumption, cravings, and continued intake despite potential negative health effects.
* So lay off the sausage ice cream, folks.
* This study is remarkable for being the 1,000th study to come to this exact conclusion.
* That must have been one ka-razy lab. How do I sign up for that experiment?
* We asked Professor Gearhardt for a comment, but he couldn’t talk with his mouth full.
* That Yale scale must measure a strange range. It does calibration tabulation. It lets you measure at your leisure.
