CAR DEALER SCREWS THEMSELVES FOR ONCE
In Brisbane, Australia, Janine St. Claire agreed to trade in her Toyota RAV4 Edge wagon for a BMW at Prestige Auto Traders. Janine was told her car was worth $54,697 in trade-in value following an inspection by a car salesman. She paid the difference between the two cars and purchased the BMW. On her drive home, she got a call from the dealership, saying there had been a mistake – they thought the RAV4 was a hybrid – which it was not. The dealership demanded an extra $5000. Janine had never claimed the car was a hybrid, nor was it discussed during the trade-in process. The dealership is now threatening legal action against her, demanding she pays for their mistake, or else exchange cars and call the whole thing off. The matter is still under dispute.
* Well, have fun in court, Prestige Auto Traders!
* Shouldn’t be too hard to find an “All Sales Final” sign somewhere at that dealership.
* But good luck finding any prestige.
* This can’t be good publicity for Prestige Auto Traders of Brisbane. I mean, once word got out, who would want to do business with Prestige Auto Traders of Brisbane if you can’t trust Prestige Auto Traders of Brisbane to know the difference between a hybrid and a non-hybrid, much less reneging on a deal made by Prestige Auto Traders of Brisbane. Did I say Prestige Auto Traders of Brisbane? I meant Prestige Auto Traders of Brisbane.
* And let’s not overlook the fact that a used Toyota SUV is going for $54,000.
