STUDY: TOO MUCH TV TO WATCH, AND NO ONE CAN FIND IT

(Note: This is exactly why Morning Sidekick brings you “What to Watch” every Monday and Thursday!)
According to a recent survey of 2,000 adults, by streaming media platform Plex:
– 68% of Americans have a TV show and movie watch list so long, it’s “nearly impossible” for them to get through it.
– The average person has 13 TV shows and 16 movies on their watch list.
– Women like to keep a mental list in their head of all the stuff they want to watch. Men take notes on the shows they want to watch.
– Millennials like true crime shows. Gen Z likes sitcoms. Gen X and baby boomers prefer full-hour procedurals.
– Half of those surveyed say it’s a struggle to find out what streaming platform content is on, averaging 30 minutes flipping from one platform to another searching for something to watch.
* Great business model you have there, streamers.
* In the time it took me to read this story, Disney+ added four more Star Wars shows and three from Marvel.
* One of these days, they’re going to figure out how to make TV work for the viewer. Oh, wait – they did, back in 1950, and then again in 1980 with the the infrared remote control.
* Just wait. Eventually all the streaming services will merge and we’ll be back where we started.
* How many of you have been faced with this. Your TV tells you, “To get to ‘Only Murders in the Building’ quicker, speak into your remote, ‘Only Murders in the Building on Hulu.'” So you say to your remote, “Only Murders in the Building on Hulu.” And up pops “Stargate: Atlantis.” You bastards.
