ARTIST TAKES MUSEUM’S MONEY, RUNS

A Danish museum gave an artist $84,000 to create a piece of art. He kept the cash and named the art “Take the Money and Run.” When the staff at Kunsten Museum of Modern Art in northern Denmark opened boxes last week from artist Jens Haaning, they expected to see… something that looked like art. Instead, the museum found two empty frames with the new name for the artwork: “Take the Money and Run.” Now, the museum is accusing him of breaking their legal agreement and demanding the artist return the 534,000 kroner, the equivalent of over $84,000. Haaning says, “The work is that I have taken their money.”
* So, pretty much like all modern artists.
* He’s an artist alright. A con artist.
* The frames must be worth something.
* Hang onto the frames. In ten years, those frames will become legendary, and they’ll be able to sell them for much more than $84,000. That’s how art works.
* Better or worse than those golden urinals we used to see popping up in museums? Let’s open the phones.
