GROOM DISAPPEARS DURING WEDDING, BRIDE MARRIES ONE OF THE GUESTS
Last Monday in the town of Maharajpur, India, a couple was getting married and had just completed their jaimala, or traditional exchange of flowers, when, while the families were getting ready for the main ceremony, the groom went missing. Family members searched for the groom, but it became clear that he had purposely fled the scene for reasons unknown. Making the best of a bad situation, one of the guests suggested that the marriage continue, but with a wedding guest as the groom. The bride’s family looked over the pool of potential husbands in the groom’s wedding party and settled on an eligible suitor. The wedding continued, and the new couple were married. Meanwhile, the groom’s father has asked police help trace his missing son.
* Instead of an arranged marriage, this is a re-arranged marriage.
* You gotta love the bride’s parents: “I paid for a wedding, dammit, I don’t care who it is, we’re gonna have a wedding today!”
* Sometimes, the person you plan to marry is special, and no one else will do. Other times, not so much.
* Well, some lucky guy had a pretty good night he wasn’t expecting.
* This is a new TLC reality show, right? “Is There a Spouse in the House?”
