COLLEGE SUGGESTS "VE" AND "NE" AS GENDER-NEUTRAL PRONOUNS
The LGBT Resource Center at Kennesaw State University in Georgia college has published a new pamphlet to guide students through the complicated world of addressing gender-fluid people. The pamphlet is titled “Pronouns Matter: A Guide To Using Gender Neutral Pronouns”. The pamphlet tells students to “understand a person’s pronouns can change.” No longer is he or she or him or her the only choice available. Now there’s several gender pronouns as “ne,” “ve,” and “ey,” along with their respective variations. For example – and these will make your ears hurt:
– Instead of He or She, there’s “Ne” or “Ve” as in, “Ne laughed”, or “Ve laughed”.
– Instead of Him or Her, there’s “Nem” of “Ver”, as in “I asked ver to come over.”
– Instead of They, there’s “Ey”, as in, “Ey all think this is stupid.”
* Could someone explain to me how “they” has a gender?
* The Administration at University of Kennesaw issued a statement on the matter, telling parents, “No refunds!”
* To be really sure you don’t insult anyone, stop speaking to other people.
* That’s great, kids. Why don’t you go back to the ball pit and see what other great ideas you can come up with?
* As an English-speaking person, I’m offended by this. Where are my rights?
