WORLD’S OLDEST TATTOO

Scientists have discovered what they believe to be the world’s oldest tattoo on the arm of a 5,000-year-old Egyptian mummy on display at the British Museum. The astonishing find came when researchers used new technology to examine a mummy known as Gebelein Man, a mummy dating from between 3341 and 3017 BC. CAT scans showed he was murdered by being stabbed in the neck aged around 18 to 21. The scans also revealed a sooty smudge on his arm that scientist say is a tattoo.
* It’s the Rolling Stones’ lips-and-tongue logo.
* (OR) It’s a heart with an arrow through it, only it’s so old, instead of saying “Mother” it says “Eve”. (In truth, the tattoo is an overlapping design of a wild bull – a symbol of virility – and a horned barbary sheep.)
* So even kids back in Egyptian days were ticking off their parents by getting tattoos.
* Interesting side note: He was stabbed in the neck when he refused to pay the tattoo artist.
