WOMEN’S BEACH VOLLEYBALLERS FORBIDDEN TO WEAR BIKINIS IN ARAB TOURNAMENT

German beach volleyball stars Karla Borger and Julia Sude say they will boycott a tournament in the country of Qatar because the country forbids players from wearing bikinis on court. Qatar is hosting the upcoming FIVB World Tour event but with strict rules about on-court clothing. Said Borger, “We are there to do our job, but are being prevented from wearing our work clothes.” She says they would normally be happy to “adapt to any country”, but that the extreme heat in Doha means that bikinis were necessary.
* And, as a dedicated viewer of women’s beach volleyball, they’re absolutely essential.
* Doha is extremely hot – and so are the players!
* Meh – just body-paint their torsos and abdomens to look like they’re wearing corsets.
* I don’t know from bikinis, but I bet the sand in Qatar is first-rate.
