WOMAN’S HEART WON WITH OFFER OF HOME-COOKED CAJUN FRIES
Collier Fernekes, a 26-year-old research analyst who lives in Washington, D.C., was on Tinder and had swiped right on a guy named John earlier this month. She liked him because she thought he was cute and he had a funny PowerPoint in his bio. A couple of days later, she noticed she had a message from John, who wanted to come over and make her some Cajun fries. This was not a euphemism; he wrote:
“Hey, I want you to come over so I can make you some Cajun fries. I’m going to buy some low-moisture Tukon Gold potatoes and boil them for you. I’m going to refrigerate them over night in different water from the water I boiled them in. Then I’m going to fry them in vegetable oil for seven to eight minutes…”
She was immediately intrigued because she loves French fries, and also his note was funny. Last Saturday, they had a “Zoom” date where they talked for a couple of hours and seemed to hit it off. As for the future, Fernekes gets her second dose of the vaccine at the end of March, after which they plan to meet up and actually make French fries together in person. Fernekes has also been posting the whole thing on Twitter and has 66,000 people following what happens.
