WOMAN’S CAR HAS RACKED UP $2800 PANDEMIC PARKING BILL

Kim Richardson, who lives in Detroit, Michigan, drove to Pearson airport in Toronto, Canada, parked her 2004 Honda Element at the Park2Sky lot on Dixon Road in Toronto, and flew to Europe for a medical procedure. This was back on March 11, 2020. While she was gone, the Canada-U.S. border was closed due to COVID. She has been unable to retrieve her car. Richardson originally paid $100 to park for two weeks. Now the lot’s owner wants $2,800 to cover 11 months worth of storage. The unidentified lot owner says, “I feel for her but I don’t operate for free. I’m a reasonable guy and the price I’m offering is cheaper than what others are charging. I have expenses, too.” Richardson says she had tried calling the lot multiple times over the year, getting no answer. The fee, she says, is more than the car is worth.
* I thought Canadians were nice. Who the hell is this guy?
* This isn’t storage. This is extortion.
* How about this – while she’s locked out of Canada, the guy leases the car to pay the parking fee. You’re welcome.
* $2800 is still cheaper than parking for a week at an American airport.
* The takeaway here is: Always take an Uber to the airport. The parking lot owner may be a jerk.
