WOMAN WINS BOSTON MARATHON

Desiree Linden ran through icy rain and a near-gale headwind to beat 30,000 other runners and win the Boston Marathon on Monday, the first American woman to win the race since 1985. The two-time Olympian pulled away at the end of Heartbreak Hill and ran alone through Brookline to finish in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 39 minutes, 54 seconds. That’s the slowest time for a women’s winner since 1978.
* She ran 26 miles against the wind. I’m supposed to ridicule her time?
* I’m going to go out on a limb here and say the person who wrote this article was male.
* Why don’t they say it like this: “That’s the slowest time for a women’s winner since 1978, and all the men in this year’s race were even slower.”
* This calls for a four-day hot bath.
* One time I had to walk two blocks to the mailbox and it was drizzling.
