WOMAN SUES BOYFRIEND FOR NOT PROPOSING AFTER EIGHT YEARS

A Kenyan woman is suing her boyfriend of eight years for not proposing marriage. Gertrude Ngoma grew tired of waiting for Herbert Salaliki, her boyfriend and the father of her child, so she took him to court. Ngoma told the court, “I deserve to know the way forward and our future.” Salaliki defended himself with the excuse that he is not currently in a financial position to afford a wedding, besides claiming that Ngoma is not giving him “sufficient attention” in their relationship. The judge had to rule against Ngoma and dismiss the case because, ironically, there was no formal marriage agreement to hold him accountable.
