WOMAN SKIPPED MORE THAN 500 TOLLS

Officials charged a New Jersey woman on Wednesday with allegedly skipping more than 500 tolls. Police attempted to stop 55-year-old Denise Simien near the Holland Tunnel after learning she owed more than $16,000 in unpaid tolls and fees. She didn’t stop and passed through the toll plaza again without paying before she was stopped on the other side of the plaza. Simien was charged Wednesday with theft of services and obstruction of justice for evading the Holland Tunnel’s $15 toll.
* 500 skipped tolls? Way to get right on those scofflaws, Port Authority.
* When she passed the 300 mark, they were still hoping she might mend her ways.
* She owes more in tolls than I paid for my car.

* This would have made a good “Pay It Forward” story. “I’d like to pay the toll for that car in front of me.” “Okay, sir, that’ll be 16 grand.”
* Wow, it costs 15 bucks to go through the Holland Tunnel? There’s your New York City, baby!
* That actually makes me proud especially since I don’t have to pay it.
