WOMAN DENIED CIGARETTE, HIJACKS BUS

A woman was arrested in New York City Tuesday morning after she hijacked a bus when the driver told her to stop smoking. It all began around 7 a.m. in East Harlem. The driver of a bus saw the woman smoking and asked her to put out the cigarette and get off. The woman became irate, so the driver called for another bus to come to transfer the passengers. As the driver was outside moving passengers to the second bus, Ortiz said the woman jumped into the driver’s seat and sped off. She drove about four blocks before a dispatcher was able to reach through the driver’s side window and shut off the bus. Officers then boarded the bus and took the woman into custody.
* Great. 7 a.m. and it’s already been a bad day.
* There’s more bad news: As she drove the stolen bus, she was texting.
* She was also fined for not being a member of the Transit Workers Union.
* Did she at least pick up the people along the route?
