WHY WE CAN’T HAVE NICE THINGS: CHILDREN AND PETS

A new survey of 2,000 UK parents and pet owners by the Furniture Village chain finds that half of adults who have children or pets will not buy nice items for the house over fears they will be ruined by their kid or pet.
– Two thirds (67 per cent) currently have a sofa which has been stained by a child or an animal.
– One in 10 respondents (11 per cent) say their sofa is covered in animal drool.
– More than a fifth (22 per cent) have had to replace a piece of furniture because the stain was so bad it couldn’t be cleaned.
– 64 per cent are waiting until their children grow so they can invest in good quality items.
* I’ve got news for you: by the time the kids are gone, you realize it’s not important to have nice things.
* Another problem is accidents when people on sofas slide off ’cause of the drool.
