WHATABURGER MANAGER USES TRASH CAN TO SUBDUE ABUSIVE CUSTOMER – Feb 26
The manager of a Whataburger restaurant in Paris, Texas, was forced to subdue a drunk customer by beating him with a plastic trash can after the man assaulted the workers there. The customer was allegedly being verbally abusive to the staff. The manager asked him to leave, which he did, but he later returned to the restaurant and assaulted the manager by punching him multiple times. The manager was able to recover and fought back by getting the man on the floor and smashing him several times with a tall plastic trash can. The staff eventually got the suspect out of the building. Police arrived to find 41-year-old Anthony Newhuis bleeding from the head in the restaurant’s parking lot. Mr. Newhuis was arrested and charged with assault resulting in bodily injury and public intoxication. A Whataburger spokesperson said in a statement: “At Whataburger, guest and employee security are a top priority. We take incidents such as this seriously and are fully cooperating with authorities.” No word yet on whether the manager was able to keep his job for protecting his staff and himself.
* Waffle House says, “We’ll take him!”
* He was tenderizing the guy the same way Whataburger tenderizes their beef.
* Whataburger? It was more like Smashburger.
* After he gave the guy a good trash can clobbering he asked, “You want fries with that?”
* Who hasn’t wanted to take a trash can to the guy in line in front of you who can’t decide what he wants?
