(All days repeat annually on today’s date unless otherwise noted; days may or may not be called “National”/”International”/”World” depending on source; sources listed often have additional info. We generally do not list special days which were created by commercial companies for the purpose of marketing, or the hundreds of disease awareness listings which occur each year.)
BABE RUTH DAY
The Holiday Insights website says this:
“Babe Ruth Day honors one of baseball’s greatest players ever. On April 27, 1947, Babe Ruth attended Yankee Stadium for Babe Ruth Day. It was to be the second last time he was at the stadium. In 1946, Babe Ruth was diagnosed with throat cancer. Back then, there was not as much treatment as there is today. On this day in 1947, ‘The Bambino’ returned to ‘The House that Ruth Built’ to be honored.”
MORSE CODE DAY
Samuel Morse was born on this day in 1791.
NATIONAL PRIME RIB DAY
The Holiday Insights website says this:
“National Prime Rib Day gets your mouth watering, and starts you drooling. Many of us look to this day on the calendar to enjoy one of America’s favorite steaks. For just a day, forget about the diet. For just today, don’t fret over the high fat and cholesterol content. There’s only one way to celebrate Prime Rib Day. And, that is with a big, thick, juicy cut of prime rib, cooked perfectly to your liking. Don’t forget the au jus and the fully loaded baked potato.”
TELL A STORY DAY
United States: Always April 27
England and Scotland: National Tell a Story Day is October 27th
The Holiday Insights website says this:
“Tell a Story Day celebrates story-telling of all kinds. It doesn’t matter if its fiction or non-fiction, a tall tale, or folk lore. Today is a day to tell ’em all. Stories can be from a book, other written material, or from memory. Our research discovered two distinct holidays, one in the U.S. The other is in Scotland and the UK. The latter is by far more prominent and organized. These two holidays are exactly six months apart. Libraries celebrate this day with story telling hours for kids. You can enjoy today telling stories to your kids, family members, or organizations and groups that you belong to. Make Tell a Story Day an important and pleasure-filled experience. To enhance the enjoyment of the story, try setting the atmosphere. If it’s an eerie or spooky story, turn down the lights. Bring decorations and memorabilia that speak to the theme. If its about a person, display a picture of the individual.”
WOODY WOODPECKER DAY
Cartoonist, animator, and creator of Woody Woodpecker, Walter Lantz was born on this date in 1899.

ENTERTAINMENT & CELEBRITIES
BAD BUNNY BECOMING MARVEL SUPERHERO
The Grammy-winning artist Bad Bunny will star as El Muerto in a standalone Marvel movie, scheduled for release in 2024. Bad Bunny, whose given name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasiow, made a surprise appearance during the announcement at CinemaCon. “El Muerto” is a man who was a champion wrestler who fought Spider-Man in a charity wrestling match. He and Spider-Man defeated a villain named El Dorado.
* Was that a spoiler? I don’t know if that was a spoiler. Well, you’ve got two years ’til the movie comes out to forget I said anything.
* Wouldn’t you rather see a superhero named Bad Bunny than El Muerto?
* I mean, they already have a raccoon as a Guardian of the Galaxy.
* His super powers are hopping and tossing Easter Egg grenades. His weakness is carrots.
* I would have liked to have seen Daft Punk as as evil alien robot bad guys.
MEGAN FOX AND MACHINE GUN KELLY EAT EACH OTHER’S BLOOD
Megan Fox said in a new cover story interview with Glamour UK that she and fiancé Machine Gun Kelly drink each other’s blood “for ritual purposes.” The actress, 35, told the publication, “It’s just a few drops, but yes, we do consume each other’s blood on occasion for ritual purposes only.” Asked if Kelly actually slashes his chest to produce blood for Fox to drink, she told the magazine, “It doesn’t NOT happen. Let me tell you. Maybe not exactly like that, but a version of that has happened many times.” Before Fox confessed to drinking Kelly’s blood, the pair were known to wear vials of each other’s blood around their necks — just like now-exes Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton did in the early aughts.
* And that worked out so well for them both.
* Just curious – can you see Megan and Machine Gun’s reflections in mirrors?
* Is this, like, a contest now to see who can out-headline Johnny Depp and Amber Heard?
* Could be worse. They could be sucking out each other’s bone marrow.
* Wait – I’m thinking of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.
* Another hard-hitting investigative exposé from Glamour UK magazine.

HOME RENOVATIONS: YOU’RE GONNA GET SCREWED
A survey from Owens Corning Roofing examining the home projects experiences of 2,000 homeowners found having a project go wrong is surprisingly common.
– Seventy percent of homeowners surveyed have had renovations done — and of those, 51 percent have fallen victim to scams.
– The top renovation scams: roofs and kitchens.
According to the survey, here are the Top Five Most Common Issues When Working With A Contractor:
– Work took longer than expected
– Project unexpectedly went over budget
– Received work below the quality expected
– Overcharged for the work
– Contractor repeatedly raised the price
* – When they squat down to work, you can see their butt crack.
* And, according to HGTV, you’re always going to find black mold or asbestos or wood rot right before the commercial break at 36 minutes into the program.
* “Owens Corning Roofing – Proudly Supplying Roofing Materials To The People Who Rip You Off Since 1938!”
* Don’t you love the people on Property Brothers who are worried about everything? People, it’s the PROPERTY BROTHERS, you’re ON TV, of course it’s always going to work out. Don’t you ever watch the show?
* My attitude is: needs painting? Time to sell.

FAMILY FINDS RATTLESNAKE ON THE COUCH
Last Thursday in Decatur, Texas, Jacob Gamble and his family were sitting on their ‘outdoor’ couch on their patio watching the Dallas Mavericks play against the Utah Jazz in the NBA Playoffs. Their daughter brought home a pizza, so everyone went inside to eat it. Ten minutes later, they returned and found a coiled-up rattlesnake – a big one – sitting on the couch, rattling. They took some video, and then Gamble shot and killed the venomous rattlesnake before disposing of its body later in the night.
* Tell me it wasn’t a Tombstone pizza.
* The animal kingdom hasn’t gotten the message that you don’t mess with Texas.
* Snake was waiting for the Arizona Diamondbacks game.
* What was the deal? Did the cable go out in the snake’s den?
* It could have been a big pain in the ass for someone in the family.
13-YEAR-OLD GRADUATES FROM UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA
A 13-year-old Minnesota boy is set to graduate with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota in May. Elliott Tanner of St. Louis Park will graduate with a major in physics and a minor in math. The boy’s mother, Michelle Tanner, said he taught himself to read when he was 2 or 3. Tanner started reading college-level textbooks at the age of 9, and two years later he graduated from Normandale Community College with an associate of science degree. Tanner said he is hoping to continue his education to earn his doctorate. “I’m hoping to become a professor at the University of Minnesota in order to also spread this joy and passion for physics with other people,” he said.
* But first: trampoline time! (Because that’s what boys do, you see.)
* His dream is to have a weekly poker night with Young Sheldon.
* His doctoral thesis will be a statistical analysis of acne pimple distribution.
* My kid made his own breakfast today. Poured the cereal and everything.

AUDIO: FIRST AIRPORT FOR FLYING CARS OPENS
The world’s first airport designed for flying cars has opened in Coventry in the UK. Called a ‘vertiport,’ the place is designed to handle zero-emission drones, flying cars and flying taxis – all electric vehicles. Air-One is billed as a “pop-up airport,” a modular building set in a large parking lot, designed to be built and dismantled quickly. It’s a concept intended for use in both urban environments and in regions that require the quick deployment of humanitarian aid and disaster relief. This one is being used as a demonstration site for both aircraft and cargo drone developers, showing off the concept to prospective customers. The company plans to build 200 more all over the world in the next five years.
* Ah, Coventry, England, the natural center of the aerospace industry.
* “‘Ow many flyin’ cars you expectin’ this week, guv’ner?”
* Blah, blah, blah. It’s a big shed, folks. And Coventry is smack in the middle of England’s “Tornado Alley,” so good luck with that. (True fact.)
* So far, they had landings from two drones, a dozen pigeons and Mary Poppins.

PSYCHOLOGIST SAYS AMBER HEARD HAS PERSONALITY DISORDERS
At the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial on Tuesday, a forensic psychologist testified that she believes Amber Heard has not one, but two potential personality disorders. Dr. Shannon Curry took to the stand to give a psychological evaluation of Heard. The forensic and clinical psychologist was hired by Depp’s lawyers and evaluated Heard during two meetings in December of last year. She told the court that Heard had “borderline personality disorder and histrionic personality disorder” and that the actor was “full of rage.” A borderline personality disorder is when someone might feel consistently unstable or intense and can feel paranoid or overwhelmed when under stress. A histrionic personality disorder occurs when someone relies too heavily on being noticed, seeking approval from others or being the center of attention. It can lead to someone going out of their way to seek approval or being dramatic and overemotional.

Actor Reese Witherspoon and Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry have joined the ownership group of Major League Soccer’s Nashville team ahead of this Sunday’s opening of Geodis Park, the team’s new 30,000-seat stadium. Witherspoon grew up in the Nashville area. Witherspoon’s husband, agent and investor Jim Toth, also has joined the ownership group. The cleverly-named Nashville Soccer Club started play in 2020. They played their first eight league games on the road this season before it opens the new venue Sunday with a game against Philadelphia.
