VOLCANO VICTIMS WERE FROM ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISE SHIP

Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines confirmed Monday that passengers from one of its cruise ships were on New Zealand’s White Island when a volcano erupted, leaving five people dead and 27 others missing. Passengers on the Royal Caribbean Ovation said the ship had taken a day trip excursion to the island. Authorities said 23 people who were hiking on the island were rescued following the eruption Monday afternoon, but otherwise there were “no signs of life” at the popular tourist spot.
* Well, they do call it the trip of a lifetime.
* And good luck getting your excursion fee back from the cruise line.
* Witnesses say it was as if the volcano had just eaten at the ship’s buffet.
* At least the lines to the bar will be shorter.
