VIENNA COMMUTERS VOTE AGAINST SCENTED SUBWAY CARS
Commuters on subway trains in Vienna, Austria have decided they would prefer their transit rides to remain unscented. Vienna’s Public Transport Authority tested four fragrances on two subways cars. They included whiffs of green tea, grapefruit, melon and sandalwood. The four scents were suffused through the train’s ventilation system for a one-month trial in July. Riders were then asked to participate in an online survey to determine which fragrance should be the train’s signature scent. 37,000 participants voted, and 21,000 people opposed fragrant subway cars.
* And you think your commute stinks.
* I’d imagine the result is similar to the smell of an airport bathroom.
* After commuters turned down the fragrances, the Public Transport Authority asked them to please shower more often.
* And stop farting.
* It’s Vienna. Why didn’t they try a sausage scent?
