UNIVERSITY BANS ALL CAPS
Professors at Trinity college’s journalism department in Leeds, England, have been told to stop using ALL CAPITAL LETTERS when assigning work to students because the capital letters might upset them. The staff was told in a memo that using capital letters could “scare them into failure”. Writing words in capital letters could make the assignment appear “more difficult” – adding to student anxieties. The memo suggested using a “friendly tone” and avoiding the use of negative language.
* And when assigning work verbally, sing the instructions to the tune of your favorite bedtime lullaby.
* I’d say these kids today have us right where they want us.
* Isn’t this the same country that fought the Nazis all the way back to Berlin?
* Kiss my First Amendment Freedom of Expression, England!
* I suppose there’s an embargo on certain fonts, too.
* Next: No more due dates for assignments. Too stressful.
