UGANDAN WOMAN HAS 44 CHILDREN
The world’s most fertile woman, who has 44 children she’s raising alone, has finally been stopped from having more. Mariam Nabatanzi, from Uganda, gave birth to her first set of twins when she was just 13. By the time she was just 36 Mariam had given birth to another 42 babies. Now 41, Mariam has been told she suffers from a rare genetic condition – unusually large ovaries – which is why she kept having multiple births – despite begging doctors for help when she was just 23. They told her birth control pills would be dangerous for her health. Among her brood are three sets of quadruplets, four sets of triplets and six sets of twins. She incredibly manages to care for and feed them all on her own, working as a hairdresser, and an event decorator. She collects and sells scrap metal, brews her own local gin to sell and makes herbal medicine. Her final pregnancy three years ago ended in tragedy when she gave birth to her sixth set of twins, and one of them died. This is when her husband walked out on the giant family. (* Walked? That man RAN.) After these twins, she was finally able to get a hysterectomy to stop having more babies.
* So … Uganda just got hysterectomies in 2020?
* Just in time. She’s used up all the names.
* You’d think after the 20th kid she’d take up another hobby.
* This family has a bigger carbon footprint than an aircraft carrier.
* Now the Duggars have a chance to catch up.
