TRAVEL COMPANY PLANS VACATIONS, WON'T TELL YOU WHERE YOU'RE GOING
“Pack Up + Go” is a Pennsylvania-based travel company. They have a gimmick where they plan three-day weekend trips around the U.S. for you, but they don’t tell you where you’re going. You fill out a survey including things like places you’ve already visited, where you might like to go and your budget. After submitting your information, it takes up to two weeks for the company to plan your trip. You receive an envelope with your itinerary and then you pack up and go.
* They got the idea from the military.
* It’s kind of like getting on a plane and being hijacked, except you’re paying the hijackers to do it.
* They also don’t tell you the airline, or you might never go anywhere.
* The tough part is wearing the black bag over your head ’til you get there.
* Gee, I knew the travel business was getting killed by online bookings but this just seems desperate.
* I just want to relax. I’m not sure I’m looking for a 3-day gimmick.
* Couldn’t you just do this at home by pulling the name of a place out of a hat?
* Oops – I just obliterated their business model.
* Now the scary part: They do the same thing with the airline pilots who’ll take you.
* “Pack Up and Go” or “The Time I Spent 3 Days in Newark.”
