TRAFFIC LIGHT HONKERS ARE PUNISHED
Drivers who honk their horns while they’re sitting at a traffic light are a chronic problem in many big cities around the world. Now police in Mumbai, India, have come up with a solution – called “The Punishing Signal.” At several intersections, police have hooked up a decibel meter to the traffic light. If the noise level of honking horns exceeds 85 decibels, then the waiting time at the traffic signal resets to a 90 second wait. An electronic sign flashes the words, “Honk more, wait more.” So far, they only tried the experiment for one day. There is no word yet on whether it worked, or if they will make the Punishing Signals permanent.
* Or whether the drivers got out of their cars and pulled the traffic lights right out of the sidewalk.
* What’s the idea behind the honking? Do they think the traffic lights can hear it?
* I thought The Punishing Signal was when you hear the theme song to Dancing With the Stars. (or some other TV show you hate.)
* Back in the day, the punishing signal used to be the words “Wait ’til your father gets home!”
* If it were America, just add guns, and you’ve got a real winner of an idea there.
* I saw The Punishing Signal open for Blondie once.
