TOUGH TIMES FOR ZOOS
It’s a tough time for zoos during coronavirus lockdown. One struggling German zoo has come up with a way stay afloat until the people are allowed to come back. Verena Kaspari, director of Neumünster Zoo says they’re about ready to start feeding the animals… to each other. Because the Neumünster Zoo belongs to an association, it is therefore not entitled to financial relief from the German government, leaving the visitor-less zoo with little recourse. Ms. Kaspari didn’t list which animals will be slaughtered, but she says the “unpleasant” cost-cutting measure might not even be enough to offset their losses.
* Worst Animal Planet show ever.
* Animals eating animals. Hey – this makes the zoo even more like nature! Cool!
* In the end, there can only be one.
* She knows there are people who would donate money to help, right?
* She also knows there are people who would pay money to watch this on a webcam, right?
* Perhaps they don’t quite grasp the whole concept of a zo– oh, wait, right. Germany.
