TODAY, STARBUCKS WILL BE CLOSING FOR SENSITIVITY TRAINING

Today (Tuesday, May 29) Starbucks will be shutting down 8,000 company-owned stores for a mass employee teaching session on combating racial bias. The move comes after the wrongful arrest of two African-American men at a downtown Philadelphia Starbucks store earlier this year, which prompted its CEO to apologize to the men in person. The stores will be closed for four hours starting at either 1pm or 2pm, depending on the location, to train 170,000 employees on how to avoid “racial bias.”

* It’s not many companies that will willingly close for four hours and take an 8 BILLION dollar loss in revenue.
