THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS A MICRO PIG
Is your teenager bugging you to buy a micro pig? Celebrities like Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus, along with YouTube videos make tiny pigs look mighty adorable. The only thing is – there’s no such thing as a micro pig. There are small pigs, but they grow into big pigs. Animal shelters across the country have been inundated with hundreds unwanted pet pigs over the past few years, and are now putting out the word to stop getting them as pets. Some groups of breeders proudly market their pigs online as minipigs, but their definition is a pig 15-20 inches tall and 60-150 pounds, hardly a tiny, cute piggie. Pig Advocates League Vice President Anna Davis also said that giving up your pet pig is not just heartbreaking for the humans, because pigs have emotional intelligence and they become very attached to their families. So when they lose their family they don’t understand why and they grieve their loss.
* Awww… just like grampa.
* And there’s just not enough room in the freezer for more pork chops.
* Did anybody else think “micro pig” was a pig that could fit in the microwave?
* If you absolutely must have a micro pig, get a hamster and shave it.
* Pig Advocates League Vice President? Can you really make a living at that?
