THAI TOWN GIVING AWAY A COW A WEEK IN VACCINATION EFFORT

A district of northern Thailand has announced a plan to encourage its citizens to get inoculated against COVID. Residents in Mae Chaem who get the shot will be registered in a weekly raffle to win a live cow. One cow will be given away each week for the rest of the year. A young cow there is worth around 10,000 baht ($320). The campaign has been met with enthusiasm in the town of 43,000 because, as one official says, “The villagers love cows. Cows can be sold for cash.”
