TARANTULAS SMUGGLED IN SNEAKERS

What has 952 legs and two shoes? This: Airport staff in the Philippines discovered 119 live tarantulas hidden inside a pair of sneakers. The Philippine Bureau of Customs found the spiders inside an oddly shaped parcel shipped from Poland. Upon opening the parcel, they found 119 tarantulas tucked inside small plastic vials. The vials were inside a pair of Asics running shoes. Amidst much high-pitched screaming, the tarantulas were immediately turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Wildlife Traffic Monitoring Unit for proper handling and disposal. An investigation is now underway to find out whom the parcel was intended for.
