SURVEY: PEOPLE DON’T USE THE TECHNOLOGY IN THEIR CARS

The 2015 Driver Interactive Vehicle Experience Report from J.D. Power shows that a lot of people aren’t using the bells and whistles on their cars. The Los Angeles Times asked about 33 tech features that seemed to be available in all respondents’ car. The results:
– 43 percent of people surveyed don’t use their cars’ voice recognition to call up things like GPS directions.
– 35 percent never tried automatic parking.
– 32 percent avoided apps like Yelp
– 20 percent didn’t even use half of the tech features in their cars.
* Cup holders. Who needs more than that?
* Extra features are like Kardashians. Nobody wants them, but at the same time they’re unstoppable.
* If only cars had actual bells and whistles. That’d be fun.
* I have automatic parking too. It’s wherever my car breaks down.
* Trust me. The most high tech thing in my car is the seat belt.
* My car is so old the radio only plays hits from the 80s.
* Relax, soon the cars will make all the decisions for us so it won’t matter.
* I wonder what the conclusion is here? At first you think they’re saying, “This technology isn’t needed,” but I also get a subtle tone of, “Gee, people are dumb.”
* PHONE TOPIC: Which fancy feature in your car do you never use?
