SURVEY: MANY AMERICANS DON’T TRAVEL
A surprising amount of Americans never travel out of their home state. According to a new survey of 2,000 Americans commissioned by travel luggage provider Victorinox:
– 11 percent of survey respondents have never traveled outside of the state where they were born.
– About half (54 percent) say they’ve visited 10 states or fewer.
– 40 percent have never visited a foreign country.
– 13 percent say they have never flown in an airplane.
– 76 percent want to travel more than they do currently, but lack the money or are simply ill-equipped to go someplace different.
– A quarter of Americans say they just don’t have the time to travel.
* It also doesn’t help when people travel and come back and tell everyone else how crappy it was.
* Imagine all those people who have never experienced the delight of today’s air travel. They should be beaten and dragged onto the plane.
* Maybe you’re afraid of feeling out of place. Look, if you go to New York’s Times Square, there’s a McDonald’s and an Olive Garden and a Red Lobster – everything to make you feel at home.
* The big takeaway here is if you own any shares of stock in the Victorinox luggage company, you might want to dump ’em.
