STUDY: GIVING BIRTH IN YOUR 30’S MEANS BETTER BABIES
Research published in the journal Biodemography and Social Biology suggests a mother’s age could have an impact on their child’s development. Scientists found babies whose mothers were in their 30’s had the highest cognitive scores. Alternatively, children whose mothers were in their 40s when they gave birth were more likely to be obese. The results were drawn from a study which followed the development of 18,000 British children. Explaining the results, Dr. Alice Goisis said: “First-time mothers in their 30’s are, for example, likely to be more educated, have higher income, and more likely to be in stable relationships, have healthier lifestyles, seek prenatal care earlier and have planned their pregnancies.”
* First of all – “Biodemography”? Get over yourself.
* Once again they take a ridiculously small sample size … wait, did they say 18,000 children? Never mind.
* So it’s because women in their 30s have it more together? This is Nobel prize territory.
* What I don’t get is the unnecessary shot at the kids who get fat.
* Give them some credit. Do you realize how hard it is to get fat on British food? It’s hard enough to choke down NORMAL portions.
