STREET LIGHT FALLS OVER; URINE TO BLAME

In San Francisco, a three-story-tall lamp post at Pine and Taylor streets fell over around 6:30 Monday and landed on a nearby car, almost crushing the driver. No one was injured. Officials said the lamp post, which was already old, was damaged by urine and weighed down by an oversized banner. Urine accelerates the corrosion of the metal base of street poles. PUC spokesman Tyrone Jue said, “We believe there was some contribution of dog or human urine on the base of the pole. We encourage people and dogs alike to do their business in other places, like a proper restroom or one of our fire hydrants, which are stronger and made out of cast iron.”
* Just what San Francisco’s firemen need to hear.
* Urine: it’s the number one cause of street light failure in San Francisco.
* I just hope dogs get the memo.
* Like a proper restroom? What, is he British or something?
* And don’t mention the hydrants are cast iron or the meth addicts will steal them.
* Imagine taking a leak and having a lamp post fall over. That’d have to be one of those “Who’s the man?” moments.
