STOP FEEDING YOUR CAT HUMAN FOOD
Want to extend your cat’s nine lives? Stop feeding it human food. A recent study of 9,000 British pets by pet insurer Animal Friends discovered that the number of dogs and cats diagnosed with diabetes skyrocketed by 900 percent in the past five years. Cats were at a particular disadvantage, with a 1,161 percent gain. The reasons: we keep feeding them human food, and most cats are kept indoors, and more than half of the cats kept indoors are dangerously overweight. According to WebMD, veterinarians recommend cats eat about 30 calories a day per pound to keep a normal, healthy weight.
* What the heck human food are the Brits feeding their cats? Scones?
* Feeding a cat British food? That’s animal cruelty.
* 30 calories? What is that – about one and a half kibbles?
* The hard part about cat diabetes is when they try to give themselves their insulin shots.
