SCIENTISTS MAKE DIAMONDS AT ROOM TEMPERATURE

Scientists in Australia say they have made diamonds at room temperature. Up til now, it took millions of years and lots of heat to make a natural diamond. Synthetic diamonds have been made since the 1940’s out of carbon and intense heat. But an international team of researchers led by the Australian National University and RMIT University in Melbourne said they have created two types of diamond at room temperature by using high pressure equivalent to 640 African elephants balancing on the tip of a ballet shoe. (* How many Rhode Islands is that?) The immense pressure created a “twisting or sliding force” that they believe caused the carbon atoms to move into place and form a diamond. One type of diamond is similar to those typically worn in jewellery, and another type is like those found naturally at the site of meteorite impacts.
* Now YOU have a scientist in the diamond business!
* I remember seeing Superman do this in his bare hand with a lump of coal.
* You know these scientists are smart because they specified 640 AFRICAN elephants, because Indian elephants would just be stupid.
* But not smart enough to keep this to themselves and sell the diamonds on the side. FOREHEAD SLAP!!!
