SAUDIS BUY OUT ENTIRE HOTEL DURING D.C. VISIT

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman was in Washington last week for an official visit with President Obama. According to website Politico, the king’s entourage bought out the entire Four Seasons in Georgetown, one of the capital’s ritziest and costliest hotels, for the duration of the visit, which ended Sunday. Basic rooms at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown cost more than $500 per night on weekends. The starter suites run at about $1,000-a-night and up. Other guests who had booked during the visit were moved to other hotels, so the delegation could have the 222-room site to themselves. The Saudis asked for some redecorating to the hotel’s sleek and modern design. Red carpets were laid down in the hallways, and gilded furniture – gold mirrors, gold end tables, gold lamps – were delivered in advance of the Saudi monarch’s visit.
* Ah, the Saudi royals: trendsetters in the art of restraint.
* Gotta love the decor theme: “1910 Brothel.”
* I bet they even had waffles at the continental breakfast bar.
* I would love to have seen the bill for all the Pay Per View porn during THAT stayover.
* They had to beat it out of town before September 11, ’cause it’s a little awkward, what with fifteen of the nineteen 9-11 hijackers having been Saudi Arabian citizens.
* “Thanks for the meeting, President Obama, and again – sorry about that whole ‘not-connecting-the-dots’ thing.”
* Okay, book the entire hotel, but making them redecorate it just for you? Sorry, but that’s obnoxious.
* With any luck the hotel will only lose a few million on the stay.
* Wow, what wealth the Saudis have. When this kind of money hits Washington every politician there gets turned on.
* Even the oldest most decrepit male senator gets rock hard when this kind of money’s in town.
