RESTAURANT HOLDS WHITE APPRECIATION DAY

A barbecue restaurant in Milliken, Colorado, called Rubbin’ Buttz has scheduled its “White Appreciation Day” for June 11. The owner, Edgar Antillon, is Latino. He says he wants to give white customers 10 percent off for a day because “all Americans should be celebrated.” Antillon explains, “We have a whole month for Black History Month, we have a whole month for Hispanic Heritage Month, so the least we could do is offer one day to appreciate white Americans. We’re all American,” Antillon says.
* Publicity stunt achieved, Edgar.
* Rubbin’ Buttz? Sounds like the staff has prickly heat.
* “White Appreciation Day.” If only Michael Jackson had lived to see this.
* “We have a whole month for Black History Month”? Yeah, otherwise it wouldn’t be Black History MONTH.
* Maybe it’d be Black History week, or Black History year, but it takes a month to be Black History Month.
* Sorry, I’m always a little grouchy on Monday mornings.
* Hey, I’m not criticizing this idea. Some of my best friends are white.
* And you know what I’m really loving? The idea of barbecue for 10% off … Mmmm.
