RACHEL DOLEZAL RESIGNS NAACP POSITION

Rachel Dolezal, the reverse-Michael-Jackson white woman who had been identifying herself as an African American, has stepped down from her position as president of the NAACP chapter in Spokane, Washington. Dolezal announced the news in a statement published to the Spokane NAACP Facebook page Monday morning. “It is with complete allegiance to the cause of racial and social justice and the NAACP that I step aside from the Presidency and pass the baton to my Vice President, Naima Quarles-Burnley,” Dolezal wrote. Her Montana birth certificate states she was born to two parents who say they are Caucasian. “We are her birth parents,” Lawrence Dolezal told CNN on Friday. “We do not understand why she feels it’s necessary to misrepresent her ethnicity.” Still, Dolezal – who responded to questions about her ethnicity on Friday – maintains that she is black. In her response Monday, she said she is still committed to her work as an activist and will continue to serve marginalized communities. “Please know I will never stop fighting for human rights and will do everything in my power to help and assist, whether it means stepping up or stepping down, because this is not about me,” Dolezal wrote. “It’s about justice.”
