QUEEN OF DENMARK STRIPS GRANDKIDS OF ROYAL TITLES

Denmark’s Queen Margrethe, Europe’s only reigning queen and the continent’s longest serving monarch (* Well, sure, NOW she is!) has stripped four of her eight grandchildren of their royal titles. The official reason was to allow the four children of her youngest son, Prince Joachim, to live more normal lives. A statement from the royal palace said, “As of January 1 2023, the descendants of His Royal Highness Prince Joachim will only be able to use their titles of Count and Countess of Monpezat, their previous titles of Prince and Princess of Denmark ceasing to exist.” There have been similar moves by other royal families in Europe to slim down their monarchies, the palace said.
* Wow, this inflation’s hitting everybody.
* “Grandma, how am I supposed to get by on a lousy title like ‘Count?’ I feel like such an Earl.”
* At least his name’s not Chocula.
* Wait – only four of her eight grandchildren lose their titles? Sounds like the fix was in.
* “More normal lives.” Sure. And if they hit any rough patches, they can get help from their daddy the Prince. Super normal.
