QUEEN ELIZABETH OPENING ESTATE TO PUBLIC FOR DRIVE-IN MOVIES
Britain’s Sandringham estate, which is the private home of Queen Elizabeth and many monarchs before her, is opening up to host drive-in movie events. Starting Sept. 25, the royal house will open up for a handful of drive-in showings of titles including “1917,” “The Greatest Showman,” “Moana,” “A Star is Born,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Toy Story,” and “Rocketman” (* Sorry, Adam Sandler and Sacha Baron Cohen). Visitors will set up in the Sandringham Park area of the estate where transmitters will allow movie audio to play in their cars. The estate will also offer drive-in concessions and a pop-up bar.
* If you’re going to do a drive-in, you need real drive-in movies: Night of the Living Dead, Enter the Dragon, Roadhouse, Texas Chainsaw Massacre…
* Even “Porky’s”, which I understand is a favorite of Prince Andrew’s.
* Is a pop-up bar really what you want at a drive-in theater?
* Will there be porta-potties, or can you go inside and sit on the Queen’s personal toilet?
* I’m imagining Queen Elizabeth behind the snack bar pushing popcorn and hot tea.
