PRINCE PHILLIP’S FUNERAL PLAN
Buckingham Palace has announce some of the details of the late Prince Philip’s funeral. He will be laid to rest this coming Saturday following a brief procession led by Prince Charles.
– Grenadier guards will lead Prince Philip’s coffin from the Albert Memorial Chapel to the entrance of Windsor Castle for the ceremonial procession to start at 2:45 p.m. GMT (9:45 a.m. ET).
– Prince Charles and members of the Royal Family, including Harry and William, will follow on foot as the coffin is taken by Land Rover to St. George’s Chapel. (* Land Rover has provided consideration for this royal commercial mention.)
– Harry’s pregnant wife Meghan Markle will not attend, for medical reasons.
– There will be a national moment of silence across the United Kingdom at 3 p.m.
– Royal Marines will then carry the coffin into the chapel, where it will be interred within the Royal Vault, topped by the Prince’s naval cap and sword.
* Okay, you can stop laughing at the “Meghan Markle will not attend, for medical reasons” part.
* Before they inter him, they’ll be giving him one final poke with the sword, just to make sure he’s dead, because with the stiffness of British royalty, it can be hard to tell.
* Then, the Queen goes back to the palace while neighboring European royalty all stop by with a hot dish to pay their respects.
* The family has asked that people not leave flowers at the palace fence; Camilla keeps sneaking out to nibble on them.
* Seriously… how did Land Rover score a commercial tie-in to the Prince’s funeral?
