PEOPLE WITH CHILDREN ARE HAPPIER

According to a new study from Heidelberg University in Germany, parents tend to be happier than non-parents, but not until later in life when the kids have moved out. A team of researchers asked 55,000 people age 50 and over from 16 European countries about their mental well-being, and results suggest “the positive aspects of parenthood dominate when getting older.” However, children who still live at home are shown to have a negative effect on their parents’ well-being.
* As well as their refrigerator.
* Of course, 95% of parents 50 or older are still waiting for their children to move the hell out.
* This is exactly the study I wish I’d had in my hand the night my wife and I decided to make a baby.
* Non-parents may not be happier than parents over 50, but they have twice as much money.
