OKAY, BOOMER
If you’re talking to a young person these day, and they reply, “Okay, boomer,” they’re not giving you a 10-4. They’re calling you old. The new teenage slang for “get out of my way, grampa,” – particularly on the TikTok app – is “Okay boomer”. Baby boomers and older people in general love to complain about younger people so, according to the New York Times, Generation Z uses it to reply to basically any person over 30 who says something condescending about young people.
* Why so rude? Why can’t the young people just hide our meds, like they did in the old days?
* Call boomers anything you want. They don’t care. They have all the money, and you don’t.
* Just to warn you, by the time we finish with this story, no one will be saying “Okay, boomer” anymore. It’s “Okay, TikTokker.”
* TikTok. TikTok. It reminds boomers that their time is running out. Fiendishly clever.
