NORTH KOREA ST. PATRICK’S DAY PUB CRAWL
Cambridge, England-based Smiling Grape Adventure Tours is taking bookings for a trip to Pyongyang, the capital city of North Korea, for a St. Patrick’s Day pub crawl. Supreme Leader and noted funmaker Kim Jong-un gave permission for the celebration. Matt Ellis, the tour operator, said, “Taking customers to community drinking spots to actually meet the locals is a good way to get insight into people’s lives and different cultures. Alcohol helps to bring down the barriers slightly, which helps.” As part of a five-day trip to the totalitarian state, visitors will visit around six different drinking locations on March 17, including a bowling alley. North Korea’s microbrewing culture will be a particular focus of the tour. Ellis says that there isn’t much travel allowed in the country, and no system to distribute beer around the country, “so they make it anywhere they can.”
* So, basically, in their toilets, like in prison.
* In the North Korean St. Patrick legend, he chased all the snakes into the center of town so the people could have dinner that night.
* By the way, when they say “a bowling alley”, they mean “THE bowling alley.” There’s only the one in the entire country.
* North Korea serves lots of green beer, ’cause it’s made from grass.
* Enjoy North Korean beers like:
– Mudweiser
– Millerterized Genuine Draft
– Kim Jong-unNatural Light
