NO SUCH THING AS A CRAZY CAT LADY
A new study out of UCLA claims there is no evidence to support the “crazy cat lady” stereotype that owners of the pets are disproportionately depressed, anxious or alone. Researchers talked with 561 people and concluded that those who own multiple cats did not report suffering adverse mental or social problems any more than those with dogs or no pets at all. The report, published by the Royal Society, says, “Our findings do not fit with the notion of cat owners as more depressed, anxious and alone.”
* No, they’re just weird as all get out.
* (For a lady on your team) “So Mr. Boots, Cheeto, Muffin and Queen Guinevere, if you’re listening – mommy’s not nuts! I leave the radio on for them so they can listen to me in the morning.”
* Dummies. Real crazy cat ladies don’t have phones, so they never reached any for the survey.
* UCLA also wanted to debunk the stereotype of the gun-crazy survivalist with the half-dozen pit bulls, but as they pulled up to the off-the-grid RV, they got their windshield blasted out by a shotgun so they left.
* This story brought to you by the Animal Shelter, which reminds you to adopt four or five cats today. Please. We’ve got so many.
