NEW TREND: NUMBER NEIGHBORS
There’s a new trend that has picked up steam over the last few days among social media users. It’s call the “number neighbor”. The gimmick is that you blindly send a text message to a phone number that is identical to yours – except for the last digit. You go either one greater or one less. For example, if your phone number ends in 1-2-3-4, you text to 1-2-3-3 or 1-2-3-5. The reason for doing this? To make a digital connection with a stranger.
* The perfect ploy if you’re selling insurance.
* Yet another reason to get on the “Do Not Call” list.
* On the bright side, the person you call immediately knows how desperately lonely and bored you are.
* Great – another empty connection with a random stranger with whom you have zero in common. And I bet you haven’t even called your mother in a week.
