NEW HUMAN SPECIES DISCOVERED

Scientists say they’ve found evidence of a previously unknown human species that lived in what is now the Philippines about 50,000 years ago. The discovery, determined from a handful of fossilized teeth and a nearly complete foot bone that looked human, deepens the mystery of an era when the world was a melting pot of many different human kinds on the move. The small-bodied hominin, named Homo luzonensis, lived on the island of Luzon at least 50,000 to 67,000 years ago. Small-jawed with dainty teeth, able to walk upright but with feet still shaped to climb, these island creatures were a mix-and-match patchwork of primitive and advanced features in a unique variation of the human form.
* Okay, not to nitpick, but this is not a new human species. It’s an OLD human species.
* Yet another kind of human we killed off so we could have the place to ourselves. Cool!
* This couldn’t have waited a day, to let the black hole guys have their own moment?
* Homo luzonensis? Jeeze, does EVERYTHING have to be about the gays today?
* New human species? Black hole photographs? Since when did we start doing Science Thursday?
