MOST PEOPLE DON'T HAVE $1000 IN THE BANK
According to a new survey of more than 5,000 adults from personal finance website GOBankingRates.com, 62% of Americans have less than $1,000 in their savings accounts and 21% don’t even have a savings account. These findings are supported by a similar survey of 1,000 adults carried out earlier this year by personal finance site Bankrate.com, which also found that 62% of Americans have no emergency savings for things such as a $1,000 emergency room visit or a $500 car repair.
* Never mind that – I want to see Bankrate.com sue GOBankingRates.com for copying what they did.
* Of course 62% of Americans don’t have $1,000. How else could the 1% have all the money?
* I’m the same way. But, boy, if this lottery ticket pays off, I’ll be set for life.
* Naa, the lottery is too much of a long shot. I’m investing in Fantasy Football instead.
* We may not have $1000, but we’ve got smartphones, high-speed internet, and 7,000 TV channels!
* So I guess what they’re saying is, vote for Bernie Sanders and let’s give socialism a try.
* Which, I have to admit, I never thought I’d hear coming from bankers.
* A $500 car repair? I work in radio. $500 is more than I paid for my heap.
* Relax: If you’re just broke, you’re still doing way better than the U.S. government.
* The U.S. government would need 18 trillion just to be flat broke again.
* They say money can’t buy happiness. Okay, then just give me the money and I’ll worry about being happy later.
