TAYLOR SWIFT REGAINS OWNERSHIP OF FIRST SIX ALBUMS

Taylor Swift announced Friday that she was finally able to buy back ownership of her first six albums. Swift’s catalog was sold – not her decision – for $300 million in 2019 to investor Scooter Braun. Scooter later sold the masters to Shamrock Capital, a private equity firm. Shamrock has now sold the rights back to the singer for roughly the same amount it paid, according to Billboard.
* I love it when things work out nicely for billionaires.
* And how many ERA’S tour front row tickets to Shamrock Capital do you think it cost her?
* Finally – FINALLY – she can start earning some money off those records.

WHOEVER DESIGNED IT NEVER USED IT

Reddit asked, “What was clearly designed by someone who has never used it?” Some of the responses:
– “Public bathrooms without a hook to hang your backpack or purse.”
– “Fast food touch-screen ordering menus.”
– “Automobiles seem to be designed by people who have never worked on repairing them.”
– “The cup holders in my car that are somehow too small for regular cups but too big for water bottles.”
– “Touch screens in cars.”
– “The Outlook app is like a program designed by someone who’d had the idea of email explained to him, but had never actually used it himself.”
– “Lighting fixtures. I’m an electrician and 90% of all lighting fixtures were designed by someone in an office who never picked up a tool in their life.”
– “Customer service call centers.”
– “Health insurance.”
– “Government programs to assist the poor.”
– “Playgrounds. The grown men who build & design these rarely ever include shade. Hard to enjoy with little ones without melting in the summer.”
* PHONE TOPIC: What do you think was never used by the person who designed it?

U.S. NEWS

WOMAN STEALS FROM GRAVES, DECORATES YARD

A Florida woman has been arrested for stealing items from gravesites. She used the mementos from graves as lawn art at her home. She was caught when one family noticed the items they were leaving at their parents graves, at Etoniah Cemetery in Palatka, went missing. The family members installed a camera in hopes of catching the thief in action. A woman later identified as Taylor was filmed walking around the grave site and grabbing a wind chime. Police went to confront her at her home and found stolen items – windchimes, bird feeders, and much more, featured prominently in her yard.
* Caught her dead to rights!
* I didn’t know grave robbing was still a thing, but here we are.
* She must have a collection of cheesy vases you wouldn’t believe.
* But no garden gnomes. They would look creepy in a cemetery.
* Windchimes belong at a cemetery. It’s the one place where the neighbors won’t yell, “Shut those things up!”

BOBCAT IN LIVING ROOM

A woman in Ken Caryl, Colorado, which is tucked into the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, called the sheriff’s department to remove a bobcat from her house. The homeowner had left the door ajar overnight for her own cat. Deputies arrived to find a bobcat hiding on a shelf behind the family TV. How to get it out? Deputies tried using the green laser light from their Tasers, to get the bobcat to chase the lights outside. The bobcat was not “not interested” in chasing the light. Said the sheriff: “Guess some intruders just aren’t dazzled by our high-tech tricks.” The deputies eventually left, and the bobcat left the home on its own about four hours later.
* After taking a few minutes to mark most of the rooms in the house.
* It wasn’t interested in chasing the green laser light? What about a feather on a stick? A feather on a 40-foot stick should do it.
* Should have tried running a can opener. Can’t beat the classics.
* Did they try just standing outside and saying, “Come here, Bob!”?
* Any sign of HER cat?

CASKET FOUND ABANDONED BY SIDE OF THE ROAD

An abandoned casket was found left by the side of the road in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The casket was empty. Officials do not have any leads on who may have left it. The local Department of Public Works was able to remove the casket within an hour after it was first reported, and they put out a social media post warning that dumping funeral items on the side of the road is against the law. City Councilmember Calvin Hawkins said, “I was more concerned with school-age children seeing it.”
* So it’s okay if younger-than-school-age children see it?
* Yes, we must hide all thoughts of death from the children. Think of the children!
* Well, except on Halloween. When we decorate our lawns with caskets and gravestones and skeletons FOR WHEN THE CHILDREN COME TO OUR HOUSES.
* Like most abandoned junk, maybe the owner just didn’t need it anymore.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

MALE FLIGHT ATTENDANT DANCES NAKED IN BUSINESS CLASS

A male British Airways flight attendant began dancing naked in business class on a flight from San Francisco to London last Tuesday following a drug binge in the plane’s lavatory. Shortly after takeoff, passengers and crew noticed the cabin crew member seeming agitated and distracted. He allegedly began using cocaine openly in a bathroom on the aircraft. He then returned to the business class cabin and stripped naked and performed what was described by witnesses as a “wild, drug-induced dance.” Other flight attendants intervened and managed to isolate him from passengers until the aircraft landed at Heathrow. (* It’s a 10-hour flight!) Police took the flight attendant into custody on charges of drug possession, public indecency, and disorderly conduct.
* …and for not reporting all those singles in his socks as tips.
* Boy, the seat-belt demonstration speech has really changed since the last time I flew.
* Cocaine BARE.
* No one was ready for takeoff.
* If that’s British Airways business class, imagine what they get up in first class.

PARAKEETS INVADING THE UK

The population of parakeets now living wild in the UK is growing astronomically, according to the British Trust for Ornithology. The group says the birds are “unstoppable.” Since 1995 there’s been an increase of more than 2000%. The parakeet population has not only doubled in the last 10 years, but also went up by almost a third in the last five years. Originally from India and Pakistan, the ring-necked parakeets are officially an invasive species, thriving all over the UK, including Wales and even parts of Northern Ireland.
* The budgies won’t budge.
* Let me introduce you to America’s invasive species, the Florida python. Maybe we can work a trade.
* Maybe if they left some of that British food out for them, it would drive them away. Like jellied eels or kidney pudding.
* I thought that the one thing Britain was famous for was dead parrots.
* Still, if you’re gonna have an invasive species from India, at least it’s not the marauding monkeys that invade towns. Cuter, too.

SEAN COMBS TRIAL: FRIDAY, MAY 30

Here is what happened at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex-and-drug trafficking trial on Friday:
– Sean Combs’ ex-assistant “Mia” – not her real name – continued her testimony Friday. She said that Combs once raged at her during a yacht trip in St. Barts because she was taking too long to count over $100,000 in cash.
– Under cross-examination from Combs’ defense attorney, she was asked why she continued working for Combs for so long. Mia said, “I was young and manipulated and eager to survive. I’m unraveling a lot of this now in therapy. Nobody was there to say these things that were happening were wrong. There was nobody around us that ever even flinched at his behavior. I was always in trouble and I was always just trying to find a way not to be in trouble.”
– When it was suggested that she could have reached out to friends for help if she wanted to, she disagreed, saying, “No, there was absolutely no time, and I had to get permission to leave or do things,” adding she “had to beg” to go to her grandmother’s funeral.
