MEXICAN PLANE CRASH SURVIVAL NOT A MIRACLE
People are calling Tuesday’s plane crash in Mexico a miracle because all 103 passengers and crew survived, and most walked away from it. David Gleave, a UK-based crash investigator and air safety consultant, said it was no miracle, it was the result of safety features the industry has implemented. Gleave says, “The safety of passengers is no accident. The grassy area you see around an airport is not just wasteland, it is deliberately kept free of obstacles such as ditches or power lines. It is designed to allow a landing that people can walk away from.” All modern aircraft also are certified to be evacuated within 90 seconds. The E190 flight deck is very modern and “has all the bells and whistles that will shout at the pilots if there’s a mechanical problem or they make a mistake configuring the plane for take-off.” He says investigators will likely be looking at the bad weather conditions during the take-off. There were reports of strong winds, heavy rain and large hail.
* Well thank you, Mr. David Atheist.
* The one plane crash where we DON’T have to wonder “Why did God let this happen?” and this guy wants to ruin it.
* Then David left the interview, and was hit by a truck.
* Strong winds, heavy rain, large hail, and yet the pilot and the tower still agreed to take off. Happy vacationing in Mexico, everybody!
* What’s Spanish for “Sully”?
